Thin, crisp at the edges, soft in the centre. The Icelandic waffle is heart-shaped, modest, and never alone on the plate.

Ingredients: Wheat flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, vanilla, dried egg, dried milk.

How to prepare: Whisk with water, milk, and melted butter. Cook in a hot waffle iron until golden.

Serving tip: Serve the Icelandic way: with whipped cream and a spoonful of rhubarb jam or wild blueberry preserve. Coffee on the side.
